Old Dubai Heritage Walk through Al Fahidi and the Souks

Get an idea of what Dubai was like before oil was discovered. Explore the historical Al Fahidi district and see its heritage sites along the narrow lanes.
Visit Al Fahidi Fort, the oldest existing building in Dubai, dating back to 1787. It has recently been converted into a museum where visitors can learn more about life in Dubai before the skyscrapers arrived.
Continue to the textile souk near Dubai Creek, known for the diverse colours of the cashmere and fine silk on sale, and learn the art of bartering to take home a unique souvenir.
Cross the creek by traditional abra water taxi and try some dates covered in white chocolate made from camel milk. Breathe in the different aromas of the spice souk before going to the largest gold souk in the Middle East.
