Jerash and Amman Ancient Highlights Tour

  • Meet your local guide and begin the tour.

  • Drive 50 km north to Jerash, the well-preserved city of the Roman Empire, often called the Pompeii of the East. Explore this city, which was initially built by Alexander the Great.

  • Visit Hadrian's Arch, built in 130 AD to honour the visit of Emperor Hadrian.

  • Pass by the Hippodrome, which offered space for 15,000 spectators, and the impressive Forum.

  • Make your way to the Temple of Artemis, where the columns are 12 metres high and each drum weighs 20-40 tons.

  • Discover other highlights of the city, such as the Colonnaded Street and the Nymphaeum.

  • Back in Amman, visit Citadel Hill for the remains of the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace, as well as the Archaeological Museum. See the large Roman Theatre from the 2nd century and also explore the traditional souks.

  • Return to Amman.
