Itinerary

1. Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve

   • You will be picked up at the airport or at Dar es Salaam and then driven to Selous Game Reserve. This will take approximately five to six hours.

   • Arrive here in time for lunch and check-in at the African safari camp.  In the evening, go for an evening boat safari through the Rufiji River. This safari allows you to experience aquatic life, mostly crocodiles and hippos. You can see many animals coming here for drinking. Also, see an uncountable number of bird species here -  the reserve has over 440 species of birds. Enjoy all of this amidst an amazing sunset in the background.

   • Return in the late evening for dinner and stay the night at African Safari Camp. Lunch and dinner are included.

2. Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Selous

   • You will have a full day game drive in a special modified safari vehicle with a professional guide in which you will see and learn much about a large number of animals, including all-time favourites: lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and other major species including the rare African hunting dog. See variety of bird species here amidst wonderful scenery and varied topography: wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest, and higher ground with long views of far-off mountains.

   • Enjoy your packed lunch and take some time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby so as to watch the animals coming to drink. Enjoy clear views all round so that no predator can creep up unseen.

   • In the evening, you will return to your accommodation for sunset views and dinner.

3. Day 3: Selous Game Reserve to Mikumi National Park

   • After breakfast, you will have an early morning walking safari with a bushman across the reserve’s environment. Learn about various histories, including the use of traditional trees for medicines, the meaning of various animal footprints and other small animals seen - something that you don't see during a game drive. 

   • After walking safari, at around 10:00, you will be driven to Mikumi National Park.

   • Upon arrival at Mikumi, you will take off for an exciting half-day game drive.

   • Later, head to camp for dinner and overnight stay at Mikumi African Safari Camp.

4. Day 4: Full Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

   • You will have an early morning game drive at around 6:00 am with a breakfast box prepared at your hotel. Mikumi’s vegetation includes woodlands, swamps and grasslands with two water holes; Mkata and Chamgore. Apart from the saddle-bill stork, hammer kop, and malachite kingfisher, you will see monitor lizards and a deadly python inhabiting the pools here. 

   • Lunch will be at Stanley Kopje Foxes inside the park. 

   • In the evening,  go back to your hotel to spend the night. 

5. Day 5: Depart to Dar es Salaam

   • After an early morning breakfast, you will check out and start your way back to Dar es Salaam. You will experience your final game drive during this journey. The drive will take approximately 5 hours.

   • Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at the airport, hotel or other specified location. This is where your safari will end.
