5-Day Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire Safari from Arusha

• Depart Arusha in the morning and drive through the Maasai Steppe to Makuyuni, then continue down to Tarangire National Park. The third largest of all parks in Tanzania, Tarangire is dotted with amazingly big baobab trees and is known for its extraordinary herds of elephants. It is truly a place not to miss while on an African safari in Tanzania. The park is home to many animal species, including some rare breeds such as the oryx, hirola, and rare bird species.

• Retire in the late afternoon at Tloma Lodge, with breathtaking views over the plains and a great sunset later in the day.

• Wake up early and enjoy an early breakfast at the lodge.

• Head to the most popular game park in Tanzania, Serengeti National Park, where the plains never end.

• Make a brief stop at Olduvai Gorge, at extra cost, an important prehistoric site where fossils were discovered by Dr. Leakey and Mary. This discovery led to the theory that Africa is the Cradle of Mankind.

• Enter the Serengeti via Naabi Gate with your Tanzanian safari guide.

• Continue with game viewing in the afternoon on the way to Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp in Central Serengeti.

• Spend the whole day on the Serengeti plains, driving around and trying to locate animals. The driver will stay in contact with other drivers through the VHF radios fitted in all vehicles, so you are sure to witness quite a lot of animal action. Predators killing, predators chasing, and antelopes running for their dear lives are all part of the norm in the Serengeti, and if you are lucky, you will leave with a tale to tell. Serengeti is famous for many animal species, both small and large alike. You can expect to see elephants, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, topis, hyenas, cheetahs, and, if you are lucky, the recently introduced black rhinos.

Retire to Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp in Central Serengeti for some memorable time at the campfire.

• Head to the Ngorongoro Crater, popularly referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

• Descend to the crater floor for a full day of game drives, breaking briefly for lunch at the hippo poolside picnic site. During game drives around the Elerai forests, you shall see elephants and try your luck at spotting leopards, increasing your chances of seeing the Big Five in one day. Lions and buffaloes are almost certain sightings, so why not also search for cheetahs?

• Drive up to the Crater Rim later in the afternoon with your Tanzanian safari guide.

Check into the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge for a cup of coffee before dinner and your overnight stay.

• Visit the Maasai Village as an optional activity and go for a guided nature walk in the forests of Ngorongoro. Activity fees apply.

• After breakfast and the other activities, drive back to Arusha town. If you fancy mingling with locals, there will be brief stops at the small towns of Karatu and Mto wa Mbu.
