Day 01

Garni Temple, Lavash Baking and Geghard Monastery

  • Depart from Yerevan with your Armenian tour driver.

  • Stop at Voghjaberd village near Charents Arch for photos. In good weather, it offers an incredible view of Mount Ararat.

  • Visit the pagan temple of Garni. It is the only Hellenistic colonnaded building in Armenia, built by King Tiridates I in the second half of the 1st century AD (77 AD) as a temple to the Sun God, Mithra (known as Mihr in Armenian). It also offers a magnificent view of the Azat River and Garni Gorge.

  • Participate in baking traditional Armenian bread, lavash, in a tandoor.

  • Head to Geghard Medieval Monastery. This monastery is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular places in Armenia. At the entrance, you can see local women selling candies, homemade food, and Geghard gata.

  • Return to Yerevan.
