The itinerary

1
Day 01

Sightseeing in Muscat

  • Meet your tour guide at the Muscat International Airport.

  • Visit the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. 

  • Head to Bait Al Zubair Museum, exhibiting the wealth of Oman’s history and thus imparting knowledge about the country’s rich culture and traditions to the visitor. 

  • Visit the picturesque Corniche-walled district of Muscat. 

  • Have a photoshoot at the residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Al Alam Palace, flanked by the 16th-century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. 

  • Walkthrough Muttrah Souq, where you can bargain for handicrafts and silver items. 

  • Stay overnight will be in the Somerset Panorama hotel.

Day 02

Sightseeing in Wadi Shab, Sur and Ras Al Had

  • Have your breakfast and get picked up from the hotel at 8.30 am. 

  • Visit the Bimmah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with inviting turquoise water, a miracle of nature, where you will be able to swim in its half-salted water.

  • Hike your way through narrow canyons leading to crystal clear pools and hidden waterfalls at Wadi Shab.

  • Stop at Sur, famous for its trading Dhow Yard. One of the prime highlights here is the dhow yard where dhows, the traditional ships, are built. Admire these lovely handcrafted dhows. 

  • Leave for your hotel at Ras Al Had. 

  • Have your dinner.

  • Visit Ras Al Jinz- Turtle Reserve, where you can enjoy watching the process of the turtles laying eggs and the baby turtles hatching.

  • Stay overnight at Ras Al Had Turtle Beach Resort.

Day 03

Sightseeing in Wadi Bani Khalid and Wahiba Sands

  • Have your breakfast. 

  • Start your journey towards Wadi Bani Khalid, an oasis spot in the middle of the barren and dry mountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman, and its pools with clear deep blue water allow you to take a refreshing dip.  

  • Leave from Wadi Bani Khalid; the journey continues to the Wahiba Sands. 
  • Go on a short camel ride at your own expense before checking into the Camp. 
  • Meet a Bedouin family, do some dune bashing which consists of going up and down the dunes like a roller coaster with your 4x4. 

  • Enjoy the tranquillity of the desert.   

  • Spend the night at Wahiba Sands-Sama Wasil Camp.

Day 04

Sightseeing in Ibra, Jabrin, Bahla and Nizwa

  • Leaving the desert, head towards Ibra, one of Oman's oldest cities and was once a center of trade, religion, education, and art. Ibra is home to the Al Harthy, Al Maskary, and Al Riyami tribes, some of the biggest tribes in Oman, all of which are very prevalent in Ibra. 

  • Continue to Jabrin-17th century castle, which became a seat of Omani learning. 

  • Walk around, you can see the well-planned layouts with dedicated rooms for the Imam, for the ladies, the kitchen, the Majlis, etc. Make sure you take a look at the ceilings that have beautiful paintings with Islamic motifs. 

  • Reach the top you are rewarded with some superb views of the surrounding areas.   

  • Continue to Bahla, one of the oldest fort built between the 12th and 15th century, and it was the capital for the tribe living in the region. Bahla is also famous for its pottery. 

  • Proceed to the hotel in Nizwa. 

  • Spend the night at the hotel Nizwa Heritage Inn.

Day 05

Sightseeing in Nizwa, Al hamra, Misfah, and Jebel Shams

  • Start your journey by walking through the old historic cities of Nizwa, which was once the capital of Oman.

  • Visit the traditional and craft Souk and the Fort of Nizwa with its large circular tower built by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'aruba. The breathtaking view from the tower will show you how big the plantation is.  

  • Proceed to the village of Al Hamra to the Bait Al Safah, where old houses reveal how past generations lived in Oman. 

  • Visit Misfah, a stunning landscape above terraced plantations of the date palm, and explore the old village of Misfah. 

  • On the way to Jebel Shams, stop at Wadi Ghul stone village, which is considered one of the deepest valleys in the Middle East.  

  • Continue to the top of Jebel Shams, “Sun Mountain”, Oman’s highest peak, 3009 m-get a spectacular view of the “Grand Canyon”. 

  • Stay overnight in Sama Heights Resort-Jebel Shams.

Day 06

Sightseeing in Wadi Bani Awf, Bilad Sayt and Wakan

  • Drive to Wadi Bani Awf is an exhilarating trip over the mountains. It covers a large area with several villages worth visiting, including the famous “Snake Gorge”.  

  • Visit Bilad Sayt; a tranquil mountain hamlet tucked away in the mountains.  Dramatic, craggy mountains rise behind the small village as multi-shade cultivated terraces. The panoramic beauty of the town can best be captured from afar on the drive into the town. 

  • Walk around Bilad Sayt Oman to see the details of the people and their life here, secluded from the rest of the Sultanate. 

  • Continue the journey to Wakan, a mountain farming village in Wadi Mistal. This region features pomegranate, apricot, grape, almond, and peach orchards, plus a dazzling display of pink and white blossoms in the springtime.   

  •  Stay in Sama Heritage Old House. Meals: (Dinner & Breakfast)

Day 07

Sightseeing in Nakhal and Wadi Abbyad

  • Have your breakfast.

  • Start your day with a short walk in the terraces farms full of fruit trees.  

  • Visit Nakhal and its 17th-century fort built on the peak of a mountain surrounded by a beautiful oasis.  

  • Visit the warm springs of Ayn A’ Thowarah with your Omani tour guide.   

  • Proceed to Wadi Abbyad where you drive in the stony track until you will reach the end of the wadi where you can see the ophiolite Oman rocks.  

  • Continue to Muscat via Barka.
