Lake Tana Boat Ride and Ararat Hill Trek
Have a refreshing breakfast, meet your Ethiopian tour guide at your hotel, and walk to the harbour.
Take a boat to the outlet of the Blue Nile on Lake Tana and gaze at hippos and birds along the way. Watch fishermen using tankwa, a vessel made out of the Cyprus papyrus plant, before heading to Mehal Zeghe Giorgis Monastery, where the boat will drop you. From here, begin your trek on the peninsula.
Walk for 1 to 1.5 hours up Ararat Hill through evergreen forest and coffee plantations. Along this route, you will have a chance to spot yellow-fronted parrots, butterflies, monkeys, various forest birds, and indigenous trees.
Have a scrumptious lunch with coffee under a tree.
Reach the hilltop and then trek down to Ura Kidane Mihiret Monastery.
Walk down to the harbour and taste Arabica, the famous coffee.
Head back to Bahir Dar.
