Belvedere Lookout, Bays, Local Tastings and Maharepa Village

Take a tour of Mo'orea with your French Polynesian tour guide and discover some of the island's most memorable sights.

  • Visit the Belvedere Lookout, a point with breathtaking views of mountains, farmlands, and bays. You can view the northern island from here.

  • Visit Lycée Agricole Opunohu, an agricultural high school in Moorea. Here, you can enjoy free samples of marmalade. You can also try freshly squeezed pineapple juice, ice creams and sorbets, local coffee or vanilla, monoï, and more.

  • Stop at the magnificent Opunohu Bay for breathtaking views and eye-catching scenery. Also visit Cook's Bay, with lovely stretches of water and Mt Rotui as the backdrop to the whole landscape.

  • Visit a fruit juice factory and distillery for free juice and liqueur samples.

  • Visit Maharepa village to learn about Tahitian pearls. You will also have time for shopping in the different stores, where many creative vendors sell a variety of items. The area is also famous for its beaches and coral reefs.

Know before you go

  • The Tahitian alphabet has all of the same vowels as the Latin alphabet-a, e, i, o, and u-but only eight consonants-f, h, m, n, p, r, t, and v. The Tahitian language was purely oral until the early 19th century. You might be wondering how "Bora Bora" got its name without a letter b. It's actually pronounced "Pora Pora," but early visitors likely misheard it, and it's been Bora Bora ever since.
