Day 01

Sofia, Boyana Church, Rila Monastery and Stob Village

Start the trip at 8:30 from Sofia.
Head first to the Boyana Church. The Boyana Church is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church situated on the outskirts of Sofia. It is very popular for its frescoes, painted in 1259. In 1979, this church was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Take the newest highway leading to the Rila Monastery. The Rila Monastery is one of the most famous Bulgarian symbols. It is not only the biggest monastery in Bulgaria, but also the most influential spiritual centre in the country and the second biggest monastery on the Balkan Peninsula.
In the region of the monastery, there are also several restaurants where you can have lunch.
Stop near the village of Stob, where the Stob Pyramids are located. The sandstone pyramids of Stob are among the most popular natural attractions for tourists in Bulgaria. The pyramids are most beautiful when seen at sunset or by moonlight. This will be the last stop.
