Day by day
Meet and greet your local guide at the airport or train station, followed by a 15-minute transfer to your hotel in Zhangjiajie City.
Enjoy some free time to explore this small city on your own. Zhangjiajie is located in the northwest of Hunan province and has a total population of 1.7 million. It is famous for its unique sandstone quartz peaks and mountains.
After breakfast at your hotel, head to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park to begin today's adventure.
Enjoy beautiful scenery on your way to the Bailong Elevator, made of see-through glass, before taking it up to Yuanjiajie Mountain. From the summit of Yuanjiajie, set out on a 2.5-hour hike to the Pillar of Southern Sky, which inspired the Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar.
Continue to the Platform of Forgetfulness to admire the nearby peaks before walking across the First Bridge Under Heaven.
Have lunch at a local restaurant at your own expense.
Then take the park shuttle bus to Tianzi Mountain, where the Imperial Writing Brush Peaks, Xihai Stone Forest, and other incredible views and scenery await. The day's activities conclude with a ride on the Tianzi cable car before your transfer back to the hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
Travel by bus on a 40-minute drive to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.
Walk along the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. This bridge is not only the highest but also the longest glass bridge in the world, and it is not for the faint-hearted. Built between two mountains in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, it is about 375 meters long, 6 meters wide, and stands 300 meters above the bottom.
Afterwards, drive to Zhangjiajie City to visit Tianmen Mountain for a skywalk and the 999 steps.
Take the shuttle bus along the 99 curves of Tongtian Road to return to the city, then visit an art gallery of sandstone paintings to appreciate this new style of painting.
After returning to Zhangjiajie City, enjoy some free time until your tour concludes with a transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule.
