3-Day Selous Game Reserve Safari from Dar es Salaam with Rufiji Cruise

• On the first day of the safari, you will leave Dar es Salaam early in the morning and drive to Selous Game Reserve. Selous is quite a distance away, so you will arrive here by midday.

• After lunch, you will go for a boat ride on the Rufiji River. Crocodiles and hippos can be seen here, as well as other animals as they converge to quench their thirst. Crocodiles take advantage of this to hunt their prey, and if you are lucky, you might be treated to exciting scenes of animal action.

Dinner and overnight at Selous Great Water Lodge. All meals included.

• On this day, you will spend a full day in this vast game reserve, enjoying game drives in search of animals such as elephants, zebras, gazelles, impalas, and the rarest of all, the African wild dogs. This game reserve was named after the prominent European explorer, the late Fredrick Selous, and has since been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The reserve is roughly the size of Switzerland and covers unexploited African wilderness, with topography that varies from rolling savannah grassland plains and savannah woodlands to rocky outcrops believed to have been cut by the Rufiji River. Activities on offer here include boat trips, walking safaris, and game drives by 4x4 vehicles.

• Begin with an early morning game drive or a nature walk.

• After breakfast, embark on your drive back to Dar es Salaam by road.

• Arrive in Dar es Salaam in the afternoon if you travel by road. If you are flying to Dar es Salaam, then you will be transferred to the airstrip to take your flight to the city.
