3-Day Trek to Mtae through Magamba Rain Forest and Shambaa Villages

• Arrive early by private or public transport, and soon after your arrival, visit the Tourist Information Center for a trip briefing.

• After the briefing, start walking with your packed lunch through the villages uphill to the Magamba rain forest. This is a day of trekking through natural forest areas, home to black Columbus monkeys, chameleons, and many other animals. Enjoy views of pretty landscapes along the way. One can also stay in a lodge on a shared-toilet basis, but it is very clean. The day's trekking is generally very easy, and even an 8-year-old child can do it comfortably.

• Later, get picked up by private transport and sleep overnight at Rangwi Sisters Convent.

6-7hrs trek

• Trek through the villages of Manolo, Sunga, and farming areas, and spend the night at Mambo View Cliff Inn. The trekking trail passes through lovely landscapes, and you will get a chance to interact with the locals in traditional villages.

• Learn conventional local ways of life as you see the traditional irrigation practices of the Shambala people.

• Enjoy views from the Mtae - World-class View Point and take in 180-degree views over Tsavo West, Kenya, and Kilimanjaro.

6-7hrs

• Early in the morning, at around 7:30 am, begin the trek for about 2 hours to Mtae village, situated on the mountain ridge with spectacular views over Tsavo West, Kenya, and Mkomazi National Park.

• Catch private transport back to Lushoto, and on the way, pass by the Irente View Point.

Overnight stay will be in Lushoto.
