Day 01
Almaty to Charyn Canyon and the Valley of Castles
- It is best to start the tour early in the morning, at 7:00 am or 7:30 am. Why so early? This allows maximum coverage of the two canyons at Charyn Canyon and its viewing platforms.
- 11:00: Before the heat builds in the canyons, we will pass through the cool Valley of Castles. Then we will go down into the canyon. A walk to the Eco-Park will take about 40 minutes, or possibly 1-1.5 hours. Along the way, you can capture stunning views on your camera or phone of the different canyon shapes formed more than 12 million years ago.
- Walk along the bottom of the canyon and observe the whole atmosphere of a very ancient era. You can feel completely independent here, since there is no access to the Internet or mobile communication.
- 12:30: After the walk, we will stop by the Charyn River in the canyon area. I can offer you a cup of coffee or tea, a few sandwiches, fruits, and cookies. I will also tell you a little about the history of this place.
- After lunch, you will have around one hour of free time to take scenic photos of the canyon area.
- 14:30: In the afternoon, we will go by Jeep to the panoramic platform, which reveals magnificent landscapes across all the canyon valleys.
- 16:30: In the evening, we will begin our return journey to Almaty.
- On the way, at the guest's request, we can stop in the local village of Baiseit, where you can taste barbecue - shashlik, pieces of sheep meat cooked on charcoal.
- 18:30: Arrival in Almaty city.
