Museum of the Strategic Missile Forces Experience
Explore the Museum of the Strategic Missile Forces, a unique military museum of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The museum is based on the combat position and command post of the missile regiment of the 46th missile division of the Strategic Missile Forces. It features a real combat launch site with a silo-launcher, the command post of a silo-based missile launch, ground equipment, and auxiliary mechanisms of the OS missile system, all preserved in their original form. An exhibition of special rocket technology is also located on the territory of the combat position.
The museum is maintained in working order by former rocket officers who once served on combat duty at this missile system. The mine-launcher has a depth of 35 meters, is highly protected, and its protective device weighs about 121 tons. The command post shaft has a design similar to the launcher shaft and is equally protected, with a depth of 40 meters. A combat crew of two people would remain on combat duty in the 11th compartment at a depth of 30 meters for 6-hour shifts. The command post functions reliably in various conditions, including автономно for up to 45 days.
Overall, the museum reveals the history of the 46th missile division to its visitors. The division began its combat path during the Second World War and completed it in October 2001, leaving behind the Museum of Strategic Missile Forces for posterity. Its exhibition serves as a reminder of the danger that still threatens the world today.
