Jakarta Landmarks, Museums, and Miniature Park
National Monument - The landmark of Jakarta, also seen as a symbol of the city, stands 132 meters tall. Topped by a glittering flame symbolising the nation's independence, the flame is gilded with 50 kg of gold leaf. The basement of the monument houses 48 dioramas depicting the history Indonesia has had from prehistoric times to the present.
National Museum - Established in 1778 by the Dutch Batavia Association of Arts and Science, this cultural center offers an excellent display of history, archaeology, and religion, exhibiting important collections from international sites.
Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park - This 150-hectare cultural center shows the entire archipelago in miniature, along with an aviary, an orchid garden, cable cars, and craft shops from all provinces in Indonesia. It is truly a reflection of the national motto "BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA," or Unity in Diversity.
Cable Car Ride - Ride the Sky Lift high over the park for a spectacular aerial overview. With a steel wire line 15-20 meters above the ground, passengers can enjoy the beautiful panorama of the Indonesia Miniature Archipelago and Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park from the air.
Batik Shop - Stop at one of the Batik shops in Jakarta to find a fine Indonesian selection and an interesting permanent exhibition of Batik, the traditional cloth of Indonesia, in classic and modern designs.
