Description

Join this tour to the Mandalay, the former royal capital city in northern Myanmar. Sightsee prominent city attractions such as the Mandalay Palace from the Konbaung Dynasty, Mandalay Hill and the Kuthodaw Pagoda which houses hundreds of Buddhist-scripture-inscribed marble slabs. Explore Shwe Kyaung Monastery, Mahar Myat Muni Pagoda and U-Bein Bridge, on this guided tour.

Itinerary

Mandalay pagodas, castle & U-Bein Bridge tour
- 09:00: Pick up at your hotel and drive to Mandalay Palace.
- 09:15: Arrive at Mandalay Palace located in the city center. It was built by King Mindon in 18 century and one of the major city landmarks of Myanmar.
- 10:45: Depart from Mandalay Palace and move to Shwe Kyaung Monastery.
- 11:00: Arrive at Shwe Kyaung, the most significant of Mandalay’s historic buildings. It is the sole remaining structure of the former wooden Royal Palace that was built by King Mindon.
- 11:30: Depart from Shwe Kyaung.
- 11:40: Arrive at Jade market. Its really nice to walk around the market and observe the traders. It is the market of most interest to the traveller visiting town.
- 13:00: Depart from Jade Market. Have lunch at Daung Lan Gyi restaurant.
- 15:00: Continue to Mahar Myat Muni Pagoda, the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site of Burma. It was built in 1785 by King Bodawpaya of the Konbung dynasty.
- 16:30: Depart from Mahar Myat Muni Pagoda and then move onto U-Bein Bridge.
- 17:00: Arrive at U-Bein Bridge. It is the world’s longest teak footbridge that gently curves 1300 yd. across the shallow Taungthaman Lake, creating one of Myanmar’s most photographed sites. Watch wonderful sunset views from there.
- 18:30: Depart from U Being Bridge and then return back to your hotel.
