Konavle Valley, Čilipi Village and Cavtat
Meet your local Dubrovnik guide and drive southeast while overlooking the Old Town.
Along the coast, pass through the villages of Župa Dubrovačka until you reach Čilipi Village. Severely devastated during the war in the '90s, it has now been reconstructed and brought back to life. Take a quick stroll through the village and learn about the area's history and local way of life. Through the lower part of the valley, see the traditional way of building dwellings, with old chimneys used as smokehouses, as well as scenic views of the valley.
Continue through the valley until you reach a medieval fortress located in a nearby village. It looks magnificent and served as a border stronghold during the 15th and 16th centuries. Enjoy a stunning view of the valley from the other side of the fortress, and look out for the nearby beautiful river stream and old mills.
Drive down from the valley and reach the small town of Cavtat, known for its beaches and the many ancient Illyrian necropolises dotted around the area. Tour the town and have lunch on a beautiful promenade (lunch not included).
