The itinerary

1
Day 01

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

  • Meet our representative at the airport or hotel for a briefing on your safari, then begin your journey to South Western Uganda.
  • You will stop at places of interest along the way, including the equator, for photography and stretching.
  • Have lunch in Mbarara and arrive at the lodge later in the evening.

Day 02

Gorilla Tracking and Batwa Cultural Experience

  • Following an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on the gorilla adventure. Grab your walking stick and drinking water, then enter the forest sanctuary in search of mountain gorillas.
  • You will be guided by knowledgeable rangers who share detailed information about Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and primate life.
  • Meet the gentle giants and watch them as they go about their daily life, take photos, and later return to the lodge. No doubt, an hour spent with the gorillas is an unforgettable experience. Look out for other animals and forest birds, including African green pigeons, African harrier hawks, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Crowned hornbill, and Giant kingfisher.
  • Later, visit the Batwa community for a unique cultural experience. The Batwa are hunter-gatherers who used to live inside Bwindi Forest. You will hear ancient stories and gain insight into their culture and tradition through traditional dance performances.

Return Transfer to Entebbe

  • After breakfast, you will leave the lodge and return to Entebbe.
  • Have lunch en route and proceed to arrive later in the evening in time for your flight.

What to bring

  • Long-sleeved shirts, jackets, and waterproof trousers. These will protect you from insects, getting wet, and getting scratched by tree branches.
  • Hiking boots are comfortable and suitable for the muddy and slippery trails during the rainy season, and also good for the hilly areas.
  • Waterproof backpack. This keeps your equipment, including cameras, safe from water or mist in the forest.
  • Insect repellent. The forest has all kinds of bugs and insects, and these may cause irritation when they come into contact with the skin. Insect repellent helps to keep them away.
