Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley by Train
Pick up from your hotel very early in the morning and travel by private bus to the train station in Ollantaytambo, located at 2,850 metres above sea level. The transfer takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Board the first Expedition train to the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. The train journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
During the trip, appreciate the famous Sacred Valley of the Incas, archaeological centres, and the flora and fauna of the region, as well as the famous starting point of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
The train follows the course of the Wilkamayu River as it descends toward Aguas Calientes, or Machu Picchu town. This town is located at the foot of Machu Picchu Mountain.
Take the bus up to see the Sacred City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. The visit will be an unforgettable experience, with a professional Peruvian guide providing all the necessary information about the history of this city.
After the guided tour, hike Huayna Picchu Mountain from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Descend to Machu Picchu Pueblo for lunch, then board the train for the return journey to the city of Cusco.
