The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival and Kigali City Tour

Arrival in Kigali and check-in at the hotel.
Visit different sites in Kigali and its suburbs, as well as the local markets, with your Rwandan tour guide.

Day 02

Akagera National Park and Lake Ihema Boat Ride

Head to Akagera National Park with your Rwandan tour guide.
Take a boat ride in the afternoon on Lake Ihema to see crocodiles, schools of hippos, and lots of water birds.

Overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 03

Game Drive in Akagera and Pastoral Heritage Experience

Go on a game drive and get an opportunity to see over 12 species of antelopes, over 525 species of birds, including the rare shoebill stork and papyrus gonolek, as well as the Big Five: lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant.
Explore the pastoral heritage experience in the afternoon and head to Kigali.

Day 04

Buhanga Forest, Gorilla Visit, and Twin Lakes

Take a noon excursion into Buhanga Forest, where all Rwandan kings were initiated. Visit one of the last remaining mountain gorilla families in the world.
Drive to the beautiful twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.
Take a village walk and get to know your neighbours in the surrounding village.
Meet the local guide at your hotel.
Drive for a short while or walk right from there, depending on the distance of the hotel from the village trail you will use.

Day 05

Kinigi Cultural Village and Farewell in Kigali

Visit Kinigi cultural village in Musanze to enjoy the unique dancing lyrics of the Rwandans known as the 'Batwa'.
Go for the thrilling banana and sorghum beer production experiences.
Drive back to Kigali for a short farewell party and then continue to the airport.
