5-Day Peruvian Amazon Wildlife Tour from Iquitos with Jungle Lodge

Pick you up from the airport or hotel in Iquitos.

Travel by car or moto-taxi to the Bellavista Nanay port area. Here, you will see local markets and vendors selling a variety of local produce, including fish, fruits, and vegetables. Your Peruvian tour guide will give you a brief explanation of this market.

Take a tropical boat and set sail to see the meeting point of two rivers - the Nanay and the Amazon - where the waters are different colours.

On the way, stop at Pedrito Fundo in Barrio Florido village, about 45 minutes from Bellavista Nanay. Here, watch out for alligators, paiches (freshwater fish and one of the longest fish in the world), and the Victoria Amazonica, the biggest lily pad in the world.

Arrive at the lodge near this place and enjoy welcome drinks at your private bungalow. Your guide will explain the activities available at the lodge.

Enjoy a lovely tropical lunch and go for short walks near the lodge.

Have dinner at the lodge.

Begin with an early excursion at 5:30 am to enjoy a beautiful sunrise and bird sightings.

After a yummy breakfast, head out on jungle treks to see giant trees. Your Peruvian guide will explain the medicinal properties of some of these trees and plants.

After lunch, enjoy a fishing tour for piranha, catfish, and barracuda, followed by nocturnal walks to look for animals such as tarantulas, snakes, scorpions, frogs, and more.

Begin with breakfast and then visit the Yahuas Indigenous tribe to learn about their customs, language, dance, and more. They will show you how to use a blowgun, an ancient weapon. You can also buy some local handicrafts from them.

After this visit, go dolphin spotting with your Iquitos tour guide, with optional swimming.

Enjoy a lovely lunch.

After some rest, go to the Yanayacu River for a boat ride and search for wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and giant trees. You can also swim in this black-water river.

Relish dinner at the lodge.

Visit a butterfly farm called Morphosapi, home to 45 species of butterfly. This beautiful project protects and breeds these remarkable insects, and you will see the full butterfly life cycle.

Enjoy a yummy lunch.

Go to the animal sanctuary, where you will see different species such as parrots, toucans, macaws, monkeys, anaconda, a giant snake, and many more in this rescued animal sanctuary.

Break for dinner.

Relax at the lodge.

After breakfast, visit Monkey Island to see different species of monkeys. You can also interact with them.

Return to the lodge for lunch and then head back to Iquitos city for your onward airport or hotel transfer.
