The itinerary

Day 01

Iquitos Arrival and Transfer to Macaw Camp

Meet your local tour guide at the airport for pick-up and transfer to the port.
Depart from the Itaya River and navigate 3 hours upstream along the main Amazon River. On the way, pass many villages, including those in one of the largest districts, Tamshiyacu.
Reach the Yanayacu River and your lodge.
Enjoy a welcome drink and settle into your private bungalow.
Break for lunch.
Go on your first excursion along the Yanayacu River to search for wildlife and watch the sunset.
Search for caimán with your Peru tour guide.

Day 02

Sunrise, Jungle Trek, and Night Walk at Macaw Camp

Begin with an early excursion at 05:30 a.m. for beautiful sunrise views and bird watching.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast of fruits, coffee, tea, and milk.
Proceed on a jungle trek through the Primary Forest area, where you can spot varied wildlife and flora. Your guide will share knowledge about local medicinal plants.
Go on boat rides and see dolphins in the Amazon River.
Have dinner and take a night walk to spot nocturnal reptiles such as tarantulas, snakes, frogs, and more.

Day 03

River Excursion and Village Visit at Yarapa Camp

Begin with a boat excursion upstream along the Yanayacu River and its lakes.
See different types of monkeys along the riverbanks, including macaw monkeys. Pass by two beautiful lakes and enjoy the beautiful landscapes here.
Have lunch and visit one of the villages around the lodge to see how local people live in the Amazon basin and learn about their local lifestyles and cultures.
Look for the hoatzin, well known as the prehistoric bird.

Day 04

Lakeside Wildlife and Return to Iquitos

Spend some time at the lakeside and see the famous giant water lilies.
Go fishing for one of the most dangerous fish in the whole Amazon basin - the piranha.
Head back to Iquitos city.
