Shimoni Dhow Cruise, Snorkelling, and Wasini Island Discovery
Enjoy a complimentary early morning pick-up from your accommodation in Diani and drive approximately 50 km to Shimoni.
Clear with the Kenya Wildlife Service and proceed to the jetty to board your traditional Arab sailing dhow. A safety briefing and boat orientation follow.
Sail for approximately 40 minutes to reach your first snorkelling site.
Look out for some of the resident population of bottlenose dolphins, as well as humpback dolphins, whale sharks, and even humpback whales before arriving at Kisite Marine Park. You will be fitted with snorkelling masks and snorkels, fins, and probably a life jacket.
Snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life, where corals, exotic fish, and sea plants are protected.
Make a short journey to Wasini Island.
Disembark and take a discovery stroll through the island and its pure Swahili culture.
Visit the giant coral garden and adjacent mangrove swamp forest before settling down for an adventurous barbeque seafood lunch with local Swahili accompaniments. Feast on freshly caught crab and fish cooked in various ways, along with other local delicacies.
Relax by the beach or in the garden before returning to shore, where a driver will meet you for your transfer to the hotel.
Take a boat ride back to the village of Shimoni, where you will be chauffeured back to your hotel.
