Even if you are not a seasoned climber, you can take on this challenge with support from an experienced trekking crew. Over 7 days, the program blends acclimatization hikes, refuge stays, summit preparation, and a fully guided ascent from the mountain’s south side, giving you a well-paced approach to reaching the top safely and confidently.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival and Transfer to the Baksan Valley

Land at Mineralnye Vody Airport, preferably before 3 pm.
Take a 200 km / 3-hour ride to a mountain hotel situated at the beginning of the 100 km Baksan Valley, almost on the slope of Mt. Elbrus.
Meet your Russian mountain guide and have dinner together.

Day 02

Acclimatization Hike to Maid's Braids Waterfall

Go on an acclimatization hike to Maid's Braids Waterfall at 2,700 m and continue further to the observatory at 3,100 m.

Day 03

Lift to the Refuge and Acclimatization to 4,550 m

Take a lift to the refuge and get settled there.
After a snack, do an acclimatization hike to an elevation of 4,550 m, reaching the lower part of Pastukhov's Rocks.

Day 04

Rest and Final Summit Preparations

Rest day. Make the final preparations for summiting Elbrus.

Day 05

Summit Attempt on Mount Elbrus

Ascend Mount Elbrus at 5,642 m with an early start between 2 and 4 am, with possible use of a Snowcat. The proportion of guides to clients is strictly 1:3.

Day 06

Reserve Day and Descent to the Hotel

Reserve day. Descend to the hotel.

Day 07

Airport Transfer and Departure

Transfer to the airport at 7 am, so please plan your flight with this in mind.
There will probably be some time for a walk in Pyatigorsk after you reach the airport and leave your luggage there.
On your own, you can also visit the well-known Russian poet Lermontov's duel site.

What's Included

Elbrus mountain guides: one lead guide for the Elbrus climb program and several assistants on summit day, with a strict 1 guide per 3 climbers ratio. For example, a group of four clients will have two guides. There is no limit on summit attempts for the group. If only part of the group reaches the summit, the ascent is still considered successful, and any additional attempts are available for an extra payment.

Services of a cook.

Hotel accommodation in double and triple rooms. Duration of stay depends on the schedule.

Accommodation in huts. Duration of stay depends on the Elbrus climb schedule.

All transfers mentioned in the itinerary, including lifts, to and from the airport/station.

Meals three times a day throughout the trip: dinner on the first day and breakfast on the last day.

All required permits and registrations.

Group equipment such as ropes, ice screws, radios, a first-aid kit, and satellite navigators/GPS.
