The itinerary

1
Day 01

Nairobi to Naro Moru Gate and Met Station

  • You will be transferred to the Naro Moru Park Gate for registration before starting the hike towards the meteorological station. This is a pleasant walk that you will enjoy.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Met Station.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 02

Trek Through Forest and Moorland to Mackinders Camp

  • Proceed uphill after breakfast through a forest belt before entering the moorlands. You will continue on until the going gets easier as you approach the Teleki Valley and Mackinders Camp at 4,200 m.

Dinner and overnight stay at Mackinders Camp with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 03

Early Morning Ascent to Point Lenana and Return to Met Station

  • Arise at 2:00 a.m. and depart for the Lenana summit for sunrise. After enjoying the views, you will descend back to Mackinders Camp for breakfast.

  • This will be followed by another 4-hour walk back to the Met Station.

Dinner and overnight stay. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.

Day 04

Descend Through the Rainforest and Return to Nairobi

  • After breakfast, you will descend through the rainforest areas, covering about 9 km to Naro Moru Park Gate.

  • Here, you will get your transport or transfers back to Nairobi city.

Breakfast and lunch are included.

    1 waterproof jacket, breathable with hood

    1 waterproof pants, breathable (side zipper recommended)

  • Headwear - 1 balaclava or Buff, for face coverage (optional)

  • Handwear - gloves, warm (waterproof recommended)

  • Hiking boots, warm, waterproof, and broken-in

  • Gym shoes to wear at camp (optional)

  • Socks, wool or synthetic

  • Sunglasses or goggles

  • Water bladder (Camelbak type, 3 litres)

  • Towel, lightweight, quick-dry (optional)

  • Pee bottle, to avoid leaving the tent at night (recommended)

  • Stuff sacks, dry bags to keep gear dry and separate

  • Sleeping bag, warm, four seasons

  • Trekking poles, collapsible (highly recommended)
