12-Day Kenya Safari through Samburu, Maasai Mara and Amboseli

• Begin with a morning departure from your Nairobi hotel and drive to the rugged, semi-desert region of the Samburu Reserve area in northern Kenya for lunch at a local lodge.

• Go for an afternoon game drive, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Samburu Sopa Lodge or Simba Lodge.

• Go for early morning and late afternoon game drives inside the park. In between meals, you can also do an optional visit to Samburu villages.

• Spend your evening with a fun game drive.

• Begin with early morning game viewing at the lake to see thousands of birds feeding in the alkaline water. Look out for waterbucks and warthogs as you leave for Hell's Gate National Park.

• Spend a leisurely afternoon with an optional boat ride or bike ride around the lake area.

• Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge or Simba Lodge.

• After breakfast, begin your safari tour in the Maasai Mara Reserve. Spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, Thomson's gazelles, and wildebeests in this game reserve through fun game drives.

• Overnight stay will be at a lodge here.

• Spend your second day in the Maasai Mara reserve area. Today, you will go on game drives to spot the Big Five. Rest and relax with picnic lunch boxes and spend the entire day in the park.

• If interested, you can also go for early morning and late afternoon game drives. You will also have the option of visiting a local Masai village at a cost of US$20 per person.

• Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Simba Lodge or Sopa Lodge.

• In the morning, depart from the Maasai Mara Reserve area and drive south through Maasai country to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro, where Amboseli is situated.

• After a stopover lunch in Nairobi, you will reach the scenic Amboseli National Park.

• Enjoy a fun game drive here before returning to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

• After a leisurely breakfast, explore this national park through morning and afternoon game drives.

• You will also have sufficient time to relax at the lodge, which promises panoramic views of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background. At 329 sq km, Amboseli is a small park and lacks the profusion of animal species found in the Mara, but the landscape provides limited cover, giving you better chances of seeing some of the larger predators.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Mara Simba Lodge or Sopa Lodge (lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast).

• After breakfast, leave for Tsavo West with an en route game-viewing opportunity at the Chyulu Gate. The drive then continues to Mzima Springs.

• Continue to your lodge for check-in, lunch, and rest, followed by an afternoon game drive. Spot eastern black rhinoceros, hippopotamus, Cape buffaloes, elephants, leopards, and giraffes. Other attractions in this extensive park are the Shetani Lava Flows and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary.

Dinner and overnight stay at Kilaguni Serena Lodge.

• After breakfast, depart for Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya's oldest and largest national parks. Go for game drives and spot a variety of bird species and animals, including the famed Tsavo lions, bats, buffaloes, monkeys, mongoose, elephants, foxes, gazelles, oryx, leopards, and many more.

• Rest and have lunch at your safari lodge, followed by an evening game drive as well.

Dinner and overnight stay at Ashnil Aruba Lodge or Sentrim Lodge (lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast).

• Go on an early morning game viewing, then return to your lodge for breakfast at 9:00 am and check out.

• Leave with picnic lunch boxes and drive back to Nairobi, arriving late in the afternoon.
