Itinerary

1. Day 1- Arusha - Machame

   • Depart from the hotel at 08:00 am.

   • Drive from Arusha to west Kilimanjaro and do registration at the gate.

   • Hike for 10 km for 5-6 hours through the natural rainforest to the first camp Machame Hut.

   • Have snacks for lunch on the way in the middle of the hiking. 

   Overnight stay at Machame Hut. 

2. Day 2- Shira Cave Camp

   • Start from Machame hut after breakfast and hike for 7 km through the heath and moorland zone.

   • Head to Shira cave camp located at 3,800 m. 

   • Enjoy hot lunch at the camp.

   • Take a short walk to the top of the ridge at Shira cave camp for acclimatization. 

   Overnight stay.

3. Day 3- Acclimatization Day

   • Go from Shira cave to Baranco camp through the alpine desert via the lava tower. This is a very good opportunity for acclimatization.

   • Have snacks for lunch on the way to the desert zone.

4. Day 4- Karanga Camp

   • Go from the Baranco to Karanga camp through the Baranco wall that is 4,200 m. 

   • Enjoy a hot lunch at the camp.

5. Day 5- Barafu - Stella Point

   • Start from Karanga camp after breakfast to the Barafu base camp (4,600 m).

   • Have lunch and stay there for dinner in the evening.

   • Begin the trek to the summit at midnight.

   • Conquer the first summit of Stella point at 5,792 m - 5,895 m. This is the highest point, Uhuru, which means freedom/ independence.

6. Day 6- Mweka Camp

   • Descend from the summit and get back as lower as possible to the forest zone at Mweka camp for an overnight stay.

7. Day 7- Arusha

   • Spend the day out through Mweka gate and return to the hotel in Arusha.
