Day 01
Kochi Monuments and Backwater Boating
- Start the tour from the Cochin Port Cruise Ships main gate or your hotel.
- Drive to Fort Kochi to watch the Chinese Fishing Nets and visit Santa Cruz Basilica, the second-oldest cathedral in India.
- Visit St. Francis Church, built in 1503, where Vasco da Gama was initially buried in 1524.
- Have a look at the handwashing laundry at Fort Kochi, which is one of its kind in the world.
- Go to Mattancherry by luxury air-conditioned vehicle with your Kochi tour guide.
- Enter the Jewish Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth, and visit Dutch Palace, which the Portuguese built in 1557.
- Walk through streets lined with an organic spice market and Indian souvenir shops.
- On the way, have a look at some churches, temples, and mosques.
- Drive to the boat jetty and embark on a 3-hour backwater boating trip (1.5 hours one way), returning by a different route.
- Cover Bogatty Island, fish farms, paddy farms, and village flora and fauna.
- Return to the cruise ship terminal or hotel at the end of the tour.
