Aberdare Mountain Range Hiking Tour
- Pick-up from Nairobi around 06:00 am to avoid trekking in the hot sun during the day.
- Pass through the beautiful views of the Great Rift Valley.
- Stop for a few minutes on the way to witness the splendid sunrise.
- On arrival at Elephant Hill (Aberdare Mountain Range), report to the Rangers, who will give you an overview of the trek.
- Begin the trek over relatively flat forest-covered terrain.
- See the best views of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha, Longonot Ndakaini Dam and Sasumua Dam.
- Spot elephants/tracks, Antelopes, Columbus monkeys and birds.
- You can ascend to reach the Bamboo zone. There, you can see the occasional elephant footprint and droppings from various animal species.
- Follow the trail descending into the clamp of trees before returning upwards out of the small valley.
- After some time, you will get the first view of the summit. The summit to the right, Kinangop, the second-highest peak on the Aberdares, can be easily accessed from this point.
- Descend to the Forest station and celebrate the successful completion of hiking.
