Go on an exciting adventure with trekking and a river cruise through Tanjung Puting National Park. Along the way, visit an orangutan conservation and rehabilitation area and keep a lookout for crocodiles, gibbons, honey bears, macaques, and many other wildlife species. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of the orangutans being rehabilitated; more than a hundred have been rehabilitated and released into the forest, and you may even spot some wild ones.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Pangkalanbun and Transfer to Kumai

Meet your tour manager at Pangkalanbun Airport.
Transfer to Kumai with your Indonesian safari tour guide.
Board a boat for a 2-hour journey to the National Park Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.

Day 02

Orangutan Encounters and Camp Leakey

Go for a walk to the first camp and visit the feeding time to see how the orangutans are treated before returning to the wild.
Return to the boat for lunch.
Continue cruising up to Camp Leakey after lunch.
Meet one of the park rangers, who will take you into the forest to see some of the orangutans that have been rehabilitated.
Go on a one-hour night trek after dinner.
Spend the night on the boat.

Day 03

River Cruise, Sekonyer Village and Departure

Cruise slowly down the river after breakfast while listening to the sounds of nature. Observe different species of birds flying overhead and among the trees.
Return to Kumai, with an optional stop to visit Sekonyer Village on the way.
Transfer to your hotel in Pangkalanbun or to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
