Ateshgah Fire Temple and Yanar Dagh

  • Meet your tour guide at the agreed-upon location in Baku.
  • Start your journey by heading to the Ateshgah Fire Temple, literally meaning "Fire House," located 30 km from the city centre on the south-eastern outskirts of the Absheron Peninsula. It has been revered at different times by Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Sikhs. The current temple structures date back to the 17th century, and excavations here have uncovered far more ancient artefacts, which you will get to witness.
  • Proceed to Yanar Dagh. The word "Yanar" in the Azeri language means "burning," and "Dagh" means "mountain." Today, it is the only place where you can see this unique natural phenomenon - natural gas emerging at the surface and feeding the flames that give the mountain its name.
