Discover the Heritage and Lanes of Old Dhaka

  • Visit Sadarghat, the central river port, and opt for a boat ride on the Buriganga River.

  • Visit the Pink Palace, the home of Dhaka's king (closed on Thursday).

  • Walk through narrow lanes and explore the local lifestyle known as "Dhakaia".

  • Keep an eye out for handicrafts, workshops, and markets, along with an opportunity to try lip-smacking traditional food.

  • Walk through the narrow and busy street of Shankhari Bazaar, the Hindu street.

  • Try to visit a traditional home to see the local lifestyle.

  • Head to the Armenian Church, a historically significant architectural monument situated in Old Dhaka.

  • Visit the Star Mosque, the most decorative mosque in the city, and Hussaini Dalan, a traditional old building.

  • Enjoy a rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Old Dhaka, full of commercial and cultural activities.

  • Proceed to Dhakeshwari Hindu Temple and Lalbagh Fort (closed on Sunday).

Know before you go

  • You are required to wear modest clothing while entering the mosques. Ladies are recommended to cover their hair and arms.

  • Ahsan Manzil is closed on Thursdays and opens after 03:00 pm on Fridays.

  • Lalbagh Fort is closed on Sundays and opens after 02:00 pm on Mondays. It is also closed on all government holidays.

  • The rest of the sites are open 7 days a week.
