The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and Transfer to Arusha/Moshi

  • Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), meet your representative, and transfer to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, as included in the rate.

  • In the evening, attend a briefing session with your professional mountain guide, who will also make sure that you are ready to begin the climb.

2
Day 02

Drive to Londorossi Gate and Trek to Shira 2 Camp

  • Meet your guide and mountain support crew for another briefing before departure.

  • Travel by vehicle for roughly 3-4 hours to Kilimanjaro National Park's western entrance, Londorossi Gate (2,200 m).

  • After the quick formalities of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, continue upward by off-road vehicle to the drop-off point at 3,500 meters. Here, you will see stunning views of the Shira Plateau for the first time.

3
Day 03

Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower for Acclimatization

  • After breakfast, leave Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) and begin your trek to the key point of the route, Lava Tower (4,630 m). This section includes many ascents and descents and ends at a camp above 4,600 meters. You may feel some discomfort, but to acclimatize successfully to the altitude, you should spend at least 1-2 hours here.

  • Have lunch at Lava Tower.

4
Day 04

Climb the Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp

  • Wake up early, have breakfast, and begin summiting the Barranco Wall. We recommend leaving camp as early as possible to avoid crowds from other groups. Hiking up the gorge wall is not difficult.

  • After the climb, rest and take photos in front of the Kibo volcano.

5
Day 05

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp and Kosovo Acclimatization Hike

  • After breakfast, begin your trek to Barafu Summit Camp (4,640 m), the starting point for the night ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Our team will set up camp for you in advance, including tents and sleeping bags, so you can relax.

  • After regaining your strength, complete an acclimatization hike toward the intermediate Kosovo Summit Camp (4,800 m), then return to Barafu Camp, where a hot dinner will be served.

  • Spend the remainder of the day resting and sleeping before the night summit attempt.

6
Day 06

Summit Uhuru Peak and Descend to Millennium Camp

  • Ascend to Uhuru Peak, keeping the altitude in mind. Technically, the climb is relatively simple; however, the real challenge lies in the high altitude. Each pair of climbers will have a personal guide for the entire ascent to monitor your physical and mental condition.

  • After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak, descend to the nearest glacier if desired.

  • Return to Barafu Camp and, after a 2-hour rest, continue your descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m).

7
Day 07

Descend to Mweka Gate and Return to Hotel

  • After a warm breakfast, head to the park's exit at Mweka Gate (1,650 m). After the descent, the whole group will gather to congratulate you, and you will have the chance to share your thoughts on the climb in the guestbook.

  • Finally, you will be presented with your commemorative certificates at Mweka Main Gate, or your guide will bring them to your hotel, before your transfer back to the hotel.

8
Day 08

Departure or Optional Safari/Zanzibar Extension

  • Rest at the hotel and transfer to the airport.

  • If you have extra time, you can continue with a safari or Zanzibar extension for more relaxation.
