Day 01

Soweto History and Heritage Tour

Pick up from the airport or hotel.
Begin with a visit to the Apartheid Museum, part of the Gold Reef City complex, which illustrates apartheid and the 20th-century history of South Africa.
Next, visit the Mandela House Museum, walk past Desmond Tutu's house on Vilakazi Street, and have lunch afterwards.
Visit the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum, which commemorates the role of the country's students in the struggle against apartheid and, in particular, the role played by the schoolchildren who took part in the Soweto protests of 1976. Many of them were shot by the apartheid police while protesting against the substandard education in Black schools in South Africa.
