  • Travel insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended, including medical and emergency evacuation coverage.
  • Weather: Northern Tanzania can have warm days and cooler mornings/evenings. Weather can change quickly, especially around Ngorongoro.
  • Safari vehicle: Game drives are conducted in a 4x4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof for wildlife viewing and photography.
  • Road conditions: Some safari roads are rough and dusty. Expect long drives between parks.
  • Wildlife: Animals are wild, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Your guide will use current wildlife information to maximize opportunities.
  • Early starts: Some game drives begin early in the morning, so be prepared for early breakfasts and departures.
  • Clothing: Bring lightweight, comfortable clothing, a warm jacket/fleece, long trousers, comfortable shoes, a hat and sunglasses.
  • Sun protection: Bring sunscreen, lip balm, and a reusable water bottle.
  • Binoculars & camera: Binoculars are highly recommended. Bring extra batteries/power banks and enough storage for photos.

  • Respect wildlife: Always follow your guide's instructions. Do not feed animals, leave the vehicle without permission, or disturb wildlife.
  • Respect nature: Keep the parks clean and avoid single-use plastic where possible.
  • Tipping: Tipping is customary but should reflect the service you receive; your safari company can provide local guidance.
  • Photography: Avoid using flash around wildlife and respect other guests' viewing opportunities.
