The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Nairobi

  • Pick up from the airport by one of our representatives and drive to the hotel.

  • Check in at the hotel and overnight at Royal Orchid Azure Hotel.

Meal Plan: Breakfast only.

Distance: Approximately 25 km. A 55-minute drive.

Day 02

Nairobi to Aberdare National Park

  • Depart for the Aberdare Country Club, located on the slopes of Mweiga Hill.

  • Spend your day exploring Aberdare National Park, home to an expansive range of wildlife including lion, leopard, African elephant, African hunting dog, giant forest hog, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck, waterbuck, Cape buffalo, suni, side-striped jackal, eland, duikers, olive baboon, black-and-white colobus monkey, and Sykes monkey.

  • Look out for rarer sightings such as the golden cat and the bongo - an elusive forest antelope that lives in the bamboo forest.

  • Make your way to the Ark Tree Lodge for a satisfying dinner.

Day 03

Aberdare to Samburu National Reserve

  • Drive to Samburu National Reserve. The reserve offers unique vistas of rounded and rugged hills and undulating plains, with a mix of woodland and grassland, along with riverine forest and swamp.

  • Explore the numerous wildlife species found only north of the equator, including Grevy's zebra, the reticulated giraffe, and the Beisa oryx.

  • Dine like a native at the Samburu Lodge.

Day 04

Wildlife Viewing in Samburu

  • Spend another day at the reserve in the company of elephants, oryx, Somali ostrich, hippos, crocodiles, gerenuk, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas.

  • Keep an eye out for the long-necked gerenuk, a graceful antelope that spends much of its time in a bi-pedal stance seeking succulence among the withered scrub that dots this harsh terrain.

  • Feel the relief of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which rises hundreds of kilometers to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and vanishes beyond Samburu in the recess of the Lorian Swamp.

  • Spend the night at the colorful Samburu Sopa Lodge.

Day 05

Samburu to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

  • Proceed south, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Sweetwaters boasts an excellent game-viewing experience, with one of the highest ratios of game to area among Kenya's parks and reserves.

  • Visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy with its huge ranch, famed for once being the private property of the Saudi Arabian multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi.

  • Have lunch and head to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, as well as refuge to over 40 species of black rhinos.

  • Camp among the wilderness at Kongoni Camp.

Day 06

Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru

  • Drive to Lake Nakuru, arriving at the lodge for lunch before another eventful day of game watching.

  • Proceed for an afternoon game drive and see the famous lake, known for its prolific birdlife, including flamingoes.

  • Visit the sanctuary, known for the conservation of the white and black rhino.

  • Enjoy a memorable overnight stay at Sentrim Elementaita.

Day 07

Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha

  • Drive through the greenery to Lake Naivasha for lunch. Explore the lush greens as you take a walk around.

  • Enjoy the quiet lull of a scenic boat ride.

  • Stay at Lake Naivasha Fish Eagle and feel the tranquility emerge from within.

Day 08

Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara

  • Drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and widely recognized as Africa's ultimate wildlife reserve. The park is the northern extension of the vast Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, famous for its annual migration of wildebeest.

  • Witness an afternoon game drive until sunset, filled with breathtaking scenery, never-ending plains, and one of the most abundant varieties of wildlife remaining anywhere in the world.

  • Admire the rolling savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets as you dine at Enkorok Mara Camp.

Day 09

Masai Mara Game Drives

  • Admire the gentle grasslands as you spend the first of two days on morning and afternoon game drives.

  • Enamour the variety of birds, as 450 bird species have been recorded here, including 57 species of birds of prey.

  • Witness the world's greatest natural spectacle - the Great Wildebeest Migration from the Serengeti. The big cats - lion, leopard, and cheetah - follow the wildebeest, which are essentially their main source of food, into the Mara.

  • Prepare yourself for some superb sightings of the game.

  • Enjoy dinner while staying at Enkorok Mara Camp.

Day 10

Second Day in Masai Mara

  • Enjoy feeding the giraffes at the local giraffe center.
