What to bring

  • Warm layers (crucial for morning runs): Morning trips, especially the 6:00 AM Sunrise Run, can be incredibly crisp and windy as the open-sided tram moves through the park. Bring a warm jacket, fleece, or windbreaker. You can shed layers as the sun comes up.

  • Sun protection: The sun intensifies quickly. Pack a brimmed hat or cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

  • Comfortable walking shoes: While you sit for the rail journey, you will want sneakers or comfortable walking shoes for strolling along the Victoria Falls Bridge and exploring the Bridge Museum.

  • Camera or smartphone: You will want to capture panoramic views of the Batoka Gorge, the spray of the falls, and wildlife along the tracks.

  • Binoculars: Highly recommended. The tram moves through Zambezi National Park, and binoculars will help you spot elephants, birds, or hippos in the distance.

  • A power bank: The cool morning air and frequent photo-taking can drain phone batteries quickly.

Know before you go

  • All ages are welcome: The Bamba Tram is entirely family-friendly and accommodates guests of all ages.

  • Infants ride free: Children aged 0 to 3 years old travel for free.

  • Child discounts: Children aged 4 to 11 years old receive a heavily discounted rate, roughly 55% of the adult price.

  • Strict seating policy: For safety reasons while moving along the tracks, the side rails remain closed and passengers are strictly prohibited from standing while the tram is in motion. You can freely move and stretch your legs once the tram stops on the bridge.

  • Dress for the morning chill: Morning rides can be surprisingly cold as you meander through the open bushveld. Bring a warm jacket or windbreaker, along with sunglasses and a hat for later.
