1-Hour Tandem Gorge Swing in Victoria Falls over Batoka Gorge

1 Hour Round trip from hotel/lodge Easy pace

The journey

Trip highlights
  • 01 Leap together from a launch platform suspended over a 120-meter cliff
  • 02 Plummet 70 to 80 meters before soaring in a giant arc across Batoka Gorge
  • 03 Reach speeds of up to 120 km/h above the Zambezi River
  • 04 Enjoy a motorized retrieval back to the platform with no canyon hike required

A tandem gorge swing is an adrenaline-filled experience for two, combining a 70-to-80-meter vertical freefall with a massive, high-speed pendulum swing across the Batoka Gorge. Unlike a bungee jump, where you drop headfirst and bounce, a gorge swing uses a seat or full-body harness, sending you feet-first into an intense drop before transitioning into a smooth, sweeping arc over the Zambezi River. Rigged together, you step off a launch platform suspended over a sheer 120-meter cliff, accelerate to speeds of up to 120 km/h, and are then safely retrieved back to the platform by a motorized winch.

Tandem Gorge Swing Experience

A standard tandem gorge swing experience has a turnaround time of approximately 1 hour from arrival to completion.

  • 0:00 - Hotel Pickup & Transfer: A shuttle collects you from your accommodation in Victoria Falls Town and transfers you to the high wire site next to The Lookout Cafe.

  • 0:15 - Registration & Safety Briefing: You sign safety indemnities, store your valuables in onsite lockers, and step onto the scales for a weight check.

  • 0:25 - Harnessing Up: Professional guides fit both you and your partner into heavy-duty full-body harnesses.

  • 0:35 - The Leap & Swing: You step out onto the wooden launch platform. On the count of three, you jump together, plummeting into a 70-meter freefall before the ropes catch and swing you in a massive 95-meter arc over the Zambezi River.

  • 0:40 - Motorized Retrieval: Once the swinging stops, a motorized winch system automatically lowers a cable and pulls you both gently back up to the launch platform.

  • 0:45 - Media Viewing & Relaxing: You unharness and walk over to the media desk to view the high-definition photos and videos captured during your jump.

  • 1:00 - Return Transfer: The shuttle takes you back to your hotel.

What to bring

  • Footwear: You must wear secure, enclosed shoes, such as running shoes or trainers. Flip-flops, sandals, and high heels are not permitted.

  • Clothing: Wear comfortable athletic clothes or shorts. Skirts and dresses are highly discouraged due to how the full-body harness fits around your legs.

  • Loose Items: You cannot take anything loose onto the jumping platform. All phones, sunglasses, hats, and loose jewelry must be left in the secure lockers provided at the check-in desk.

  • GoPros / Cameras: You are generally not allowed to hold a camera or phone during the jump for safety reasons. If you bring a GoPro, it must be mounted to a secure chest or wrist strap and is subject to the jump master's approval.

  • Professional Media: Both operators have professional photographers and high-definition video teams capturing your launch, freefall, and retrieval. These media packages are available to view and purchase immediately after your jump.

Know before you go

  • Weather Dependability: The swing operates in most weather conditions, including light rain. However, operations will temporarily pause during heavy thunderstorms or high-velocity winds.

  • Combined Weight Limits: For safety reasons, strict weight limits apply. For the Bridge Swing, the maximum combined weight for both jumpers cannot exceed 180 kg (396 lbs). For the Batoka Gorge Swing, it is generally limited to 140 kg per harness.

  • Age Restrictions: Children as young as 6 years old can participate in the Batoka Gorge Swing, accompanied by an adult. The Bridge Swing typically requires participants to be at least 14 years old.

  • Medical Conditions: You will be required to sign a liability waiver. This activity is strictly prohibited if you are pregnant or suffer from high blood pressure, heart conditions, epilepsy, or severe neck/back injuries.
