Kayabwe Equator Experience and Kampala Cultural Tour Highlights
Departure: About 7:00 am - Depart Kampala or Entebbe city with your driver-guide and head southwest of Kampala for a 2-hour drive to the Equator, located in Kayabwe along the Mpigi-Masaka Highway in Mpigi District.
Drive: Enjoy views of different villages in rural Uganda from your car along the way.
Activity: On arrival at the Equator, you will be welcomed by one of the local guides at the site and watch a Coriolis Water Experiment using a funnel, water, and a floating leaf or matchstick.
Activity: Stand in the middle of the world at the Uganda Equator, take photos, and obtain certificates showing that you have visited the Equator.
Refreshment: Enjoy a nice, authentic Ugandan local coffee at a local restaurant.
Shopping: Browse souvenir shops and stalls selling authentic Ugandan crafts, drums, batiks, and jewellery.
Drive: Drive back to Kampala for your city tour.
Visit: Visit the Buganda Royal Tombs at Kasubi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where a local guide will walk you through the beautifully thatched royal architecture and the living history of the late Buganda kings.
Meal stop: Stop for a traditional meal and try a classic Ugandan 'Rolex' - chapati wrapped around eggs - or a hearty local buffet of matooke (steamed green bananas) and peanut sauce at a local restaurant.
Visit: Visit the Uganda National Mosque and climb the 272 steps up the minaret tower for a 360-degree city view of Kampala.
Visit: Visit Kabaka's Palace (Lubiri) and Idi Amin's Prison, tour the official palace grounds of the King of Buganda, and enter Idi Amin's Underground Prison.
Stop: Make a quick stop at the Independence Monument on Speke Road.
