Day 01

Sunrise Trek to Ad Deir via Petra's Back Door

Morning: Early Light & the Sacred Trail to Ad Deir

5:00 AM - Hotel Pick-up & Scenic Drive: Meet Abdullah in your hotel lobby for a quiet 30-minute transfer by open truck through the peaceful desert landscape toward Little Petra and the ancient Back Door entrance.

5:45 AM - The Back Door Mountain Hike: Begin your moderate-level trek up the mountain paths. Avoid the crowds and watch the reddish sandstone cliffs change color in the early morning light, with sweeping views across the African Rift Valley.

6:30 AM - Sunrise at the Monastery (Ad Deir): Reach the magnificent Monastery just as the first golden rays strike the stone facade. Unpack your hotel breakfast box and enjoy hot tea prepared over an open flame in near-total solitude.

7:15 AM - Bedouin Stories & Ancient Secrets: Abdullah shares deep historical insights into Nabatean engineering and life in the ancient desert. Optional drone flight is permitted if local rangers are off-duty.

Mid-Day: Ancient Treasures & Hidden Caves

8:00 AM - Descent to the City Center: Hike down into Petra's central valley to explore the Byzantine Church and its vibrant mosaics, followed by the impressive Royal Tombs. Step inside the Urn Tomb to test its incredible acoustics.

9:30 AM - Off-the-Beaten-Path Exploration: Follow Abdullah along secret trails to hidden sandstone caves featuring brilliant natural color striations, and catch panoramic views of the ancient Roman Theater from above.

10:30 AM - The Treasury (Al-Khazneh) & Street of Facades: Walk down Facade Street and arrive at Petra's most famous icon, the Treasury, with plenty of time for photos and local storytelling.

Afternoon: The Siq Farewell & Conclusion

11:30 AM - Journey Through the Siq: Stroll out through the dramatic, towering walls of the Siq canyon as the site begins to wake up around you.

12:00 PM - Tour Conclusion: Arrive back at the main entrance visitor center. From here, Abdullah can arrange your transfer back to your hotel, or you are free to continue exploring at your own pace.
