  • Luggage Limits: Internal flights between safari parks and Zanzibar often have strict luggage weight limits, typically 15 kg / 33 lbs per person in soft-sided bags or duffels.
  • Local Customs & Modesty: Zanzibar is a culturally conservative, predominantly Muslim island. Please dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees, when visiting local villages, markets, and historic Stone Town.
  • Plastic Bag Ban: Tanzania strictly prohibits single-use plastic bags. Please leave disposable plastic bags at home or use reusable ziplock bags for packing.
  • Currency & Payments: The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), but US Dollars (USD) are widely accepted. Note: USD bills must be printed in 2009 or later, clean, and free of tears or marks. Credit cards are accepted at major lodges, but cash is recommended for tips and local markets.
