Koh Kret Market Walk, Street Food, and Riverside Island Life

08:30 AM - Meet-up at BTS Asok & Journey Begins

We'll gather at BTS Asok and head out like true locals. Taking the skytrain and the new monorail helps us completely bypass Bangkok's morning traffic as we head north toward the river.

10:00 AM - River Crossing & The Leaning Pagoda

We arrive at the pier and take a quick ferry ride to Koh Kret. Right at the landing point, you'll see the famous white leaning pagoda - a century-old landmark shaped by the river's current that sets the tone for the island's rustic charm.

10:30 AM - Village Market Crawl & Local Food Exploration

We'll wander through narrow, car-free village lanes lined with traditional wooden houses. Along the way, we'll hunt down the island's best street food, like Tod Mun Nong Kala (herbed fish cakes), local sweets, and refreshing herbal drinks served in handmade clay mugs.

12:00 PM - Riverside Lunch & Chilled Hangout

Time to relax by the water. We'll head to an amazing riverside spot, such as a beautifully restored 100-year-old rice mill, to enjoy a laid-back lunch, cold drinks, and great conversation as longtail boats drift past.

01:30 PM - Island Life & Hidden Backstreets Walk

We'll head deeper into the quieter, residential side of the island. This is where we truly explore the local way of life, walking past small family gardens, old wooden homes, and neighborhood temples that tourists rarely see.

03:00 PM - Local Coffee & Tea Break

We'll wind down at a rustic local café right by the river. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a cold coffee or tea, talk about the day, and soak in the slow-paced, peaceful island rhythm.

03:45 PM - Island Farewell & Ferry Back

We'll walk back to the main pier, pick up any last-minute handmade crafts or snacks, and catch the ferry back to the mainland.

04:30 PM - Head Back to the City

Hop back onto the monorail and skytrain system, letting you sit back and relax after a full day of exploring.

05:30 PM - Return to BTS Asok

Arrive safely back at our starting point, perfectly timed for your evening plans in Bangkok.

Know before you go

  • Weekend only: We organize this tour on Saturdays and Sundays only, as this is when the island truly comes alive with local vendors and vibrant market energy.
  • Be ready to move: This is an active day. You must be comfortable with walking, as the island's lanes are narrow, pedestrian-only, and best explored on foot.
  • Chill vibes only: This is a laid-back, lifestyle-focused tour. We won't weigh you down with heavy historical lectures; instead, we focus entirely on experiencing the daily rhythm, food, and crafts of the local community.
  • Cash is king: Many small food stalls and pottery artisans on the island do not accept credit cards. Please bring cash (Thai Baht) for your lunch, drinks, and market shopping.
  • Weather prep: Since it's an outdoor walking tour, we recommend bringing sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, or a small umbrella for the tropical sun.
