Arrival and Twin Cities Sightseeing

Afternoon Exploration: Embark on a guided sightseeing tour exploring the vibrant culture and landmarks of the twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, including bustling local bazaars and architectural sights.

Scenic Flight to Skardu

Jeep Drive to Askole (3,050m)

Camp Life: Set up camp in Askole, meet your supporting porters, and enjoy your first night under the stars in the Karakoram foothills.

Trek to Jula (3,200m)

Morning Trek: Begin your trek along the roaring Braldu River, hiking for 4 to 5 hours across suspension bridges and rugged terrain.

Campsite: Arrive at Jula and settle into your campsite for the evening.

Trek to Paiju (3,450m)

Trail Progression: Trek for 5 to 6 hours through arid gorges and open landscapes, with stunning views of the towering Paiju Peak coming into sight.

Camp Rest: Set up camp at Paiju, the last permanent settlement and green oasis before reaching the glacier.

Trek to Khuburce

Glacial Approach: Embark on a 4 to 5-hour trek as the trail transitions onto the rocky margins of the Baltoro Glacier.

Overnight: Arrive at Khuburce and set up camp surrounded by breathtaking granite spires.

Trek to Urdukas (4,000m)

Ascent: Undertake a 3 to 4-hour trek, climbing higher above the glacier moraine to reach Urdukas.

Panorama: Enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Trango Towers and Cathedral peaks from your high-altitude campsite.

Trek to Goro II (4,300m)

Baltoro March: Trek for 6 to 7 hours directly onto the ice of the Baltoro Glacier, navigating stable paths surrounded by towering giants.

Night Camp: Establish camp at Goro II for a chilly night under the stars, with a clear view of Muztagh Tower.

Day 11

Trek to Concordia and Broad Peak Base Camp

Concordia Arrival: Trek 4 to 6 hours across the glacier to Concordia - the legendary "Throne Room of the Mountain Gods" - surrounded by 8,000-meter peaks.

Base Camp Push: Continue with an additional 2-hour trek up to Broad Peak Base Camp to set up camp for the night.

Excursion to K2 Base Camp (5,135m)

The Ultimate Hike: Embark on a challenging 7 to 9-hour round-trip excursion across the Godwin-Austen Glacier to K2 Base Camp.

Memorial & Return: Pay respects at the Gilkey Memorial, touch the foot of the savage mountain, and trek back down to Broad Peak Base Camp for the night.

Trek Back to Concordia (4,700m)

Return Leg: Trek back down from base camp across the glacier for 5 to 6 hours.

Trek to Khuburce

Lower Glacier Trek: Continue descending along the lateral moraine of the glacier, retracing your steps through the familiar mountain corridor.

Overnight: Make camp for the evening at Khuburce.

Green Oasis: Trek back down to the relative greenery and comfort of Paiju campsite.

  • Meals: All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) freshly prepared by the professional mountain crew during the trek, plus daily hotel breakfasts in Islamabad and Skardu (catering to vegetarian, meat, and halal preferences upon request).

  • Transport: Ground transfers in private air-conditioned vehicles/coasters in Islamabad, rugged 4x4 jeeps for the off-road round-trip drive between Skardu and Askole, plus airport transfers.

  • Permits, Fees & Extras: All trekking permits, Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP) entry fees, camping fees, government tourist taxes, satellite phone communication for emergency use by the lead guide, and a dedicated mess tent equipped with tables and chairs.

  • Insurance: Travel, medical, and high-altitude emergency rescue insurance (including evacuation coverage up to 6,000 meters) is mandatory and must be purchased separately.

  • International Airfares: International flights to and from Pakistan are not included.

  • Visa Fees: Pakistani tourist visa fees and application costs.

  • Personal Gear & Equipment: Personal hiking equipment, including trekking poles, sturdy trekking boots, cold-weather apparel layers, sleeping bags, and personal daypacks.

    • Footwear: Sturdy, broken-in waterproof hiking boots and camp shoes/sandals.

    • Apparel: Layered thermal underwear, fleece jackets, a high-quality down jacket (rated for sub-zero temperatures), a windproof/waterproof shell jacket and pants, moisture-wicking trekking shirts, and warm wool mountaineering socks.

    • Gear: A warm sleeping bag (comfort rated to -15°C to -20°C), trekking poles, UV-protection glacier sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, and a headlamp with extra batteries.

  • Personal Items: Personal water bottles/hydration bladder, water purification tablets or filter, personal toiletries, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and a basic personal first-aid kit.

Know before you go

  • Altitude & Acclimatization: This expedition reaches high altitudes, peaking at K2 Base Camp (5,135 meters) and Concordia (4,700 meters). Proper acclimatization days in Skardu and a gradual ascent along the Baltoro Glacier are built into the itinerary, but good cardiovascular fitness and prior high-altitude trekking experience are strongly recommended.

  • Weather & Contingencies: Mountain weather in the Karakoram is unpredictable. Domestic flights between Islamabad and Skardu are strictly subject to weather conditions. In the event of flight cancellations, an overland contingency drive via the Karakoram Highway (Chilas) will be implemented.

  • Insurance Requirement: Mandatory travel insurance covering high-altitude emergency medical rescue and helicopter evacuation up to 6,000 meters must be secured prior to arrival.
