What to bring

Neutral colors: pack clothes in khaki, olive green, brown, or beige; avoid bright colors (which scare wildlife), blue or black (which attract biting tsetse flies), and military camouflage (which is illegal for civilians in Botswana). [1]
Layers are key: early morning game drives in open vehicles are freezing, while afternoons are very hot; bring a windproof jacket, beanie, and gloves alongside your light summer clothes.
Footwear: comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes or light trainers are perfect; heavy hiking boots are rarely needed unless you are on a dedicated walking safari.

Know before you go

Strict luggage rules (non-negotiable).
Soft bags only: you must use a duffel bag with no hard frames, rigid structures, or pull-out wheels so it can fit into the small cargo pods of Cessna aircraft.
Weight limit: the maximum weight allowed is 15 kg (33 lbs) to 20 kg (44 lbs) total, including your camera gear and hand luggage.
Daily laundry: do not overpack; camps include free daily laundry service, meaning three changes of clothes are plenty.
Health, vaccines & visas
