Private Cultural Walk Through Gion and Higashiyama

This 2-hour private walking tour is seamlessly designed to fit into your morning or afternoon, offering a deep, interactive dive into the soul of Kyoto.

The journey begins at the bustling hub of Shijo-Kawaramachi, and the tour is explored entirely on foot. Walking is the ultimate way to experience this historic area, allowing us to duck into hidden alleys and quiet canals.

At Shijo Bridge and the Kamo River, we begin with the geography of Kyoto. Standing over the scenic river, you will learn how this waterway fueled 1,000 years of capital history.

At Minamiza Kabuki Theater, marvel at the grand architecture of Japan's primary Kabuki theater and discover how this vibrant performing art was born right on these riverbanks.

Along Hanamikoji Street, walk past beautifully preserved Machiya (wooden townhouses). Your guide will reveal the inner workings of this exclusive district.

At Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama Park, we step into Kyoto's spiritual heart. Here, we explore Shinto traditions, local beliefs, and the seasonal festivals that define Kyoto's rhythm.

A short walk brings us to Chion-in Temple, one of Japan's grandest Buddhist temples, featuring a massive, majestic wooden gate that inspires awe.

We conclude our journey in Gion Shirakawa and Tatsumi Daimyojin, the most picturesque willow-lined canal area. In this peaceful setting, we take a deep dive into the real facts of Geisha and Maiko culture, dispelling common myths.
