The itinerary

1
Day 01

Scenic Flight Arrival at Camp Moremi

From Maun (MUB), enjoy a scenic 25-minute flight over the Okavango Delta channels.

From Kasane (BBK), the flight takes about 75 minutes and is often used by travelers combining their trip with Chobe National Park or Victoria Falls.

Scheduled hop-flights can also connect you directly from sister properties such as Camp Okavango or Savute Safari Lodge.

Because these transfers use light aircraft, such as a Cessna 206 or GA8 Airvan, strict safety weight and size limits apply.

  • Maximum weight: 20 kg (44 lbs) per person, including all hand luggage.

  • Bag type: Soft-sided bags only. Rigid frames, hard plastic shells, and built-in wheels, for example hard Samsonite cases, are physically prohibited because they cannot fit into the aircraft's small cargo pods.

Day 02

Game Drives, Water Safari, and Fireside Dining

A typical day at Camp Moremi revolves around prime wildlife activity hours, when predators are most active.

Morning: The Dawn Wake-Up

  • 05:30 - Wake-up call with fresh coffee, tea, and biscuits served at your luxury tent.

  • 06:00 - Light continental breakfast at the main elevated lodge deck overlooking Xakanaxa Lagoon.

  • 06:30 - Morning game drive departs in open 4x4 vehicles. Guides track big cats, including lions and leopards, as well as endangered African wild dogs through the Moremi Game Reserve forest edges.

  • 09:30 - Bush coffee break at a safe, scenic location inside the reserve for coffee, tea, and light snacks.

Mid-Day: Brunch and Siesta

  • 10:30 - Return to camp for a hearty, multi-course brunch.

  • 11:30 to 15:00 - Siesta hours. You can rest in your tent, edit wildlife photos, read at the library, or use the outdoor swimming pool to escape the midday heat.

Afternoon: Water Safari and Sundowners

  • 15:30 - Afternoon high tea with sweet and savory snacks served at the main cocktail bar.

  • 16:00 - Afternoon water safari by motorboat through the deep channels of the Okavango Delta to view elephants bathing, hippos, and rare birds such as the Pel's fishing owl.

  • 18:00 - Sundowners along a Delta waterway, with drinks and snacks while you watch the sunset.

Evening: Fireside Dinner

  • 18:30 - Return to camp to freshen up.

  • 19:30 - Pre-dinner drinks around the traditional safari fire pit.

  • 20:00 - Three-course dinner served under the stars on the elevated deck or in the communal dining room, featuring local flavors and paired wines.

Day 03

Final Morning Safari and Departure Flight

  • 05:30 - 09:30: Enjoy your final morning wake-up call, breakfast, and a shorter morning game drive or boat cruise.

  • 10:00: Settle your personal bar or curio account at the main office and hand in your room keys.

  • Variable time: A lodge guide will transfer you by open 4x4 vehicle back to the Xakanaxa Airstrip roughly 45 minutes prior to your specific pilot's touchdown.

Onward flying routes (charter flights)

  • To Maun (MUB): A 25-minute scenic flight to connect with commercial airlines heading to Johannesburg or Cape Town.

  • To Kasane (BBK): A 75-minute scenic flight if you are moving on to Chobe National Park or crossing the border into Zimbabwe or Zambia for Victoria Falls.

  • To next lodge: Flight times vary from 10 to 40 minutes depending on whether you are shifting deeper into the Delta or heading to the Savute or Chobe regions.

  • National park fees: Daily entrance fees and vehicle permits for the Moremi Game Reserve.

  • Laundry: Daily laundry service is provided, weather permitting. Note that for cultural reasons, most camps do not wash underwear but provide laundry powder in the rooms.

  • Airstrip transfers: Complimentary pickup and drop-off from the nearby Xakanaxa Airstrip.

What's Not Included

  • Light aircraft flights: The charter hop flights from Maun or Kasane into the Xakanaxa Airstrip, unless booked as part of a package deal.

  • Premium drinks: Imported champagnes, rare spirits, and boutique premium cellar wines.

  • Curio shop purchases: Any souvenirs, clothing, or local crafts bought at the camp shop.

  • Staff gratuities: Tips for safari guides, trackers, and general lodge hospitality staff. These are strictly optional and usually given at check-out.

  • Private activities: Private safari vehicles or specialized solo excursions must be booked separately in advance at an extra charge.

What to bring

  • Clothing & colors

  • Neutral tones: pack khaki, beige, olive green, and brown fabrics.

  • Avoid blue and black: these colors actively attract biting tsetse flies.

  • Avoid bright white: it stands out too clearly and scares wildlife away.

  • No camouflage: wearing military-style camo prints is illegal for civilians in Botswana.

  • 3x lightweight shirts: long sleeves protect against sun and insects.

  • 2x safari pants: zip-off pants that convert to shorts are ideal.

  • 1x comfortable shoes: sturdy trail running shoes or light hiking boots. No heavy boots are needed for vehicle or boat safaris.

  • Climate layers (chilly mornings / hot afternoons)

  • 1x heavy fleece or windproof jacket: morning drives in open 4x4 vehicles are freezing.

  • 1x beanie, scarf, and gloves: crucial for winter months (May to August).

  • 1x wide-brimmed sun hat: it must have a chin strap so it does not blow off in moving boats and vehicles.

Know before you go

  • Malaria prophylaxis: Camp Moremi sits in a high-risk, year-round malaria zone. Taking doctor-recommended prophylaxis, such as Malarone or Doxycycline, is strongly urged.

  • Vaccination requirements: No mandatory vaccines are required if arriving directly from Europe or North America. However, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is strictly mandatory if you are transiting through a country with risk of yellow fever virus transmission, such as parts of Zambia or Kenya.

  • Water safety: Tap water inside your tent is filtered and safe for showering and brushing teeth, but bottled or purified water is provided complimentary for drinking.

  • Drone ban: The use of drones is strictly prohibited at the camp and throughout the entire Moremi Game Reserve due to national park environmental laws.

  • No night drives or off-roading: Because the camp is located within a national reserve rather than a private concession, vehicles must strictly remain on designated tracks and return to camp before sunset.

  • Unfenced safety warning: The camp is entirely unfenced. Wildlife, including elephants, hippos, and large predators, moves freely through the grounds. Walking alone after dark is forbidden; a staff escort is required to and from your tent at night.
