  • 02 See massive elephant and buffalo herds: Giant breeding herds migrate through the mopane woodlands and utilize the permanent water lagoons.
  • 03 Discover vibrant birdlife: Over 500 bird species live here, making it a world-class destination for birdwatchers, especially near the pans and lagoons.
  • 04 Glide on mokoro safaris: Glide silently through shallow, reed-lined channels in a traditional dugout canoe, getting eye-level with frogs, water lilies, and drinking wildlife.

Embark on a full-day safari in the renowned Moremi Game Reserve, maximizing wildlife sightings with an early start and expertly guided game drives. Travel through varied landscapes and learn to read the bush as your guide interprets animal tracks, behavior, and the ecosystem around you. Journey to Xini Lagoon and the Black Pools, pause for a packed lunch, then explore habitats from open grasslands to riverine forests before returning to Maun. Enjoy evening drop-off.

What to bring

  • Headlamp & Flashlight: The camp relies on solar power and has limited lighting at night. Bring a high-lumens headlamp with spare batteries.

  • High-Capacity Power Bank: Power outlets are limited or restricted to central areas. Bring a solar or high-capacity power bank to keep cameras and phones charged.

  • Binoculars: Essential for spotting wildlife in dense bush tracks and during walking safaris.

  • Off-Line Navigation/GPS: Download offline maps (like Tracks4Africa or Google Maps) before leaving Maun. Cellular signal in the concession is weak to non-existent.

  • Neutral Clothing: Pack lightweight clothing in khaki, beige, brown, or olive green. Strictly avoid bright colors and white (which scares wildlife on walking safaris) and dark blue or black (which attracts biting tsetse flies).

  • Sturdy Closed-Toe Shoes: Thick-soled hiking boots or trail sneakers are non-negotiable for walking safaris to protect against thorns, scorpions, and uneven terrain.

  • Warm Layers: Open 4x4 night drives get exceptionally cold. Bring a windproof jacket, fleece, beanie, and a scarf.

Know before you go

  • Neutral Layers: Mornings and late afternoons are chilly in open safari vehicles, while midday gets very hot. Wear layers in khaki, green, or beige.

  • Sun & Insect Protection: Bring high-SPF sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and insect repellent containing DEET.

  • Footwear: Closed-toe shoes or light sneakers are highly recommended over sandals due to dust and insects.

  • Malaria Zone: Moremi Game Reserve is in a malaria-risk area. Consult a travel clinic about preventative medication before your trip.

  • Wildlife Distance: Never attempt to feed, touch, or lean out of vehicles to get closer to the animals. The reserve is completely unfenced.

  • Hydration: Drink bottled water exclusively. Most day-trip operators provide complimentary bottled water throughout the day.
