Day 01

Chobe River Cruise and Afternoon Game Drive

Start with a boat cruise on the beautiful Chobe River in Chobe National Park, with the opportunity to see a host of birdlife, crocodiles, hippos, and large herbivores making their way down to the river's edge.

You will then enjoy a delicious lunch at Coffee Buzz restaurant, followed by an afternoon game drive back in Chobe National Park in one of our specially adapted open 4x4 vehicles. Drives are typically along the waterfront, where the game congregates to quench their thirst. Common sightings are elephant, buffalo, and lion, with eland, sable, and roan antelope also common at certain times of the year. Leopards are more elusive, but you may be lucky!

What to bring

Headlamp & Flashlight: The camp relies on solar power and has limited lighting at night. Bring a high-lumens headlamp with spare batteries.
High-Capacity Power Bank: Power outlets are limited or restricted to central areas. Bring a solar or high-capacity power bank to keep cameras and phones charged.
Binoculars: Essential for spotting wildlife in dense bush tracks and during walking safaris.
Off-Line Navigation/GPS: Download offline maps (like Tracks4Africa or Google Maps) before leaving Maun. Cellular signal in the concession is weak to non-existent.
Personal First-Aid Kit: Include diarrhea medication, rehydration salts, painkillers, bandages, and any personal prescriptions.

Know before you go

Neutral Layers: Mornings and late afternoons are chilly in open safari vehicles, while midday gets very hot. Wear layers in khaki, green, or beige.
Sun & Insect Protection: Bring high-SPF sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and insect repellent containing DEET.
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes or light sneakers are highly recommended over sandals due to dust and insects.
Malaria Zone: Chobe National Park is a high-risk malaria area. Consult a travel clinic about preventative medication before your trip.
Wildlife Distance: Never attempt to feed, touch, or lean out of vehicles to get closer to the animals. Chobe is completely unfenced.
