09:30 AM - Scenic Drive to Shirakawa-go

Relax on a comfortable drive through the breathtaking mountains of the Hida region via the expressway, which takes approximately 50 minutes.

10:30 AM - World Heritage Shirakawa-go Exploration (3.5 Hours)

Drive straight up to the Shiroyama Viewpoint for a panoramic view of the village before the big tour buses arrive.

Walk through the village to visit a traditional thatched-roof farmhouse, designated as a National Important Cultural Property.

Enjoy a local lunch featuring regional delicacies such as Hida Beef cooked on a Hoba leaf with miso.

What to bring

Comfortable Walking Shoes: The village of Shirakawa-go involves walking on unpaved paths, gravel, and some sloped areas. Comfortable sneakers or walking shoes are highly recommended.
Cash (Japanese Yen): While credit cards are widely accepted in cities, many small shops, street food stalls, and the farmhouse admission fees in Shirakawa-go still accept cash only. Please bring enough Japanese Yen for your lunch, snacks, and entrance fees.
Weather-Appropriate Clothing and Rain Gear: Shirakawa-go is located in a mountainous region where the weather can change quickly. We recommend bringing a light jacket or layers, even in summer, and a compact umbrella or raincoat just in case.
Camera or Smartphone: You won't want to miss capturing the postcard-perfect views from the Shiroyama Viewpoint and the historic streets.
Daypack or Small Hand Luggage: Since large suitcases need to be forwarded in advance, or require a rental car upgrade, please bring a small backpack or shoulder bag for your daily essentials, wallet, and passport during the tour.

This tour standardly uses a compact 4WD vehicle, the Suzuki Jimny, which is highly popular for navigating Japan's scenic mountain roads. Due to the vehicle's compact size, it cannot accommodate large suitcases or multiple pieces of heavy luggage.
