Ancient Temples and North Peak Panorama
Beginning at the historic Dongyue Village, visitors first encounter the ancient Dongyue Temple, once the principal center of Emperor Dongyue worship in the Jiangnan region. The temple's remarkable pantheon - where Emperor Dongyue, Lord Guan, and Judge Bao are enshrined together - offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional Chinese folk beliefs.
The route then leads to Fahua Temple, a tranquil sanctuary with a history spanning more than 1,700 years. Founded during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the temple has witnessed centuries of prosperity, decline, and revival. Today, its elegant halls, sacred relics, and peaceful mountain setting make it one of Hangzhou's most spiritually resonant sites.
Continuing uphill through forested paths, travelers eventually reach Lingshun Temple, the renowned "No. 1 God of Wealth Temple under Heaven." With a history of over 1,600 years, the temple beautifully blends Buddhist and folk traditions and remains an important pilgrimage destination for worshippers seeking blessings and prosperity.
The highlight of the journey is the summit of North Peak (Beigaofeng), rising 313.7 meters above sea level. Long celebrated as one of Hangzhou's finest viewpoints, the peak offers a breathtaking panorama of West Lake and the entire city of Hangzhou.
